The Taylor Research Group at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to work in advanced materials synthesis and electrochemical energy systems.
New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world.
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NYU Tandon is home to cutting-edge research in sustainable energy technologies, advanced materials synthesis, and electrochemical systems. The Taylor Research Group focuses on developing novel synthesis methods for metallic glass nanoparticles using flash joule heating (FJH) and understanding fundamental charge transfer mechanisms in energy storage systems.
Expectations
Candidates will be responsible for developing advanced synthesis methods for metallic glass nanoparticles using flash joule heating techniques and investigating redox-driven charge transfer mechanisms in electrochemical energy systems.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in electrochemical analysis, materials synthesis, and advanced characterization techniques as exemplified by a strong publication record.
Previous experience on redox chemistry, battery systems, interfacial electrochemistry, or metallic glass synthesis is desired.
The position involves collaboration with theoretical modeling groups and utilization of synchrotron X-ray facilities for in-situ characterization.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $62,500 - $70,000depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.
Candidates should have a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
Experience with electrochemical characterization techniques (EIS, cyclic voltammetry, DEMS), advanced materials characterization (XRD, XPS, XAS, NMR, EPR), and synthesis of functional materials is highly preferred.
Applicants should submit, as one pdf, the following information:
an up-to-date CV that includes a complete list of publications,
a research statement that describes their interest and goals and how their research relates to this position,
copies of up to three relevant scientific papers,
names and contact information for three references.
All application materials should be submitted electronically via Interfolio and to: andre.taylor@nyu.edu
Review of applications will begin as soon as possible and will continue until the position is filled. Expected start date is: October 1st.
