Applications are invited for a Research Associate-Fixed term (postdoc) position in the research laboratory of Dr Caroline Szczepanski, at Michigan State University, within the Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science. The postdoc will contribute to projects in the Szczepanski lab focusing on the development of biobased films, coatings, and adhesives. These materials will address challenges in sustainability, health, and packaging. We are seeking a highly-motivated post-doctoral research associates who are willing to interface with multiple projects, support mentorship of developing researchers, and interface with industry partners.

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related field by the start of the position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials characterization and significant experience with the synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials. The candidate must be an expert in the characterization of polymeric materials.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with UV-curable coatings and materials, as well as cellulose nanomaterials (nanocrystals, nanofibers) is desired.
