D-25-MAE-00004 | Research | Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
The group of Prof. Aditya Sood in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Princeton Materials Institute at Princeton University invites applications for postdoctoral positions. Our lab works in the areas of ultrafast science, nanoscale thermal transport, and microelectronics, for applications in energy-efficient computing, thermal management, and energy conversion. We seek candidates with strong expertise in building and conducting ultrafast time-resolved optical experiments. Key skills include the ability to design, assemble, and align ultrafast optical setups, integrate setups with measurement electronics for data acquisition, etc. Experience in the following areas is beneficial but not required: nonlinear optics (e.g. optical parametric amplifiers), electrical switching, high-frequency electronics, thermal transport physics, and beamline experiments at user facilities.
Besides technical expertise, we value strong communication, teamwork, and mentorship. Candidates should be able to lead independent research projects while collaborating with and supporting junior lab members. A good publication record demonstrating technical writing skills is essential (preprints are welcome).
Candidates must have (or expect to soon receive) a PhD in materials science, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields. Specific inquiries about the position may be sent to aditya.sood@princeton.edu with the subject line "postdoc_2025_inquiry".
Positions are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University
Applicants must apply online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/38061and submit a CV (including a list of publications), brief cover letter (summarizing prior research experiences and future interests), and contact information for two or three references.
