The Khalil Research Group at NYU Abu Dhabi employs a cross-disciplinary approach that integrates chemistry, reaction engineering, and manufacturing principles to develop advanced materials for environmental remediation. Our research focuses on controlling material structures from the nanoscale to the microscale, enabling the creation of innovative technologies that leverage these complex architectures for sustainable water treatment solutions.
The Research Associate will work on a project focused on developing covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for water treatment applications. The role involves the synthesis, and characterization of materials using advanced techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction, electron spectroscopy, and porosity analysis. The researcher will also evaluate the performance of these materials in water applications.
Additional responsibilities include preparing manuscripts and reviewing articles. The Research Associate will have the opportunity to work on individualized projects under the guidance of Dr. Safiya Khalil, ensuring a well-rounded research experience throughout the tenure.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensing or Training
BSc / MSc in Chemical Engineering/Material Science/Chemistry or a related field.
Preferred Education, Certifications, Licensing or Training
Research experience related to materials science.
Required Work and Related Experience
Experimental research experience in the area of porous framework materials, including synthesis and characterization of porous MOF/COFs.
