The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Tufts University invites applications for a full-time faculty position.  This tenured faculty member will also serve as Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and lead the faculty in continuing to grow and strengthen a dynamic engineering program. 

Established in 2002, the Biomedical Engineering Department is primarily housed in the Science & Technology Center at Tufts University.  The Department currently consists of 11 full-time faculty.  The new Chair will have the opportunity to recruit several new faculty members to its ranks in the next few years.  Faculty scholarship spans a broad spectrum of interests including: tissue engineering and regenerative medicine including biomaterials and cellular agriculture, and in sensing systems including medical electronics and optics, instrumentation, measurement, and imaging.  The Department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in biomedical engineering, MS degree in bioengineering, and an MS and PhD in materials science and engineering.  BME also offers a certificate in biomedical engineering and cellular agriculture.  Recognized for its excellence in research, the Department has an enrollment of approximately 165 undergraduate students, 60 MS and 50 PhD graduate students.  Please see https://engineering.tufts.edu/bme/ for more information.
