Description: A postdoctoral research associate, or more senior research position, is available at Princeton University in the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, working in the research group led by Professor Claire White. The position is focused on the development of grinding aids and water reducing chemical admixtures for calcined kaolin clay-based alkali-activated cements. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and performing experiments, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript and report preparation and graduate student mentoring. The project requires applicants to have a strong background in chemical admixtures and materials characterization of aqueous surface chemistry using techniques such as zeta potential measurements. Experience working with alkali-activated cements would be ideal. Additionally, experience with the following materials characterization techniques is beneficial: FTIR, NMR, gel permeation chromatography, rheological tests, XRD, TGA and SEM. A PhD in relevant fields of materials engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, or environmental engineering is required. All candidates must have strong, demonstrated research ability, be very comfortable in an interdisciplinary research environment, and have excellent English language written and spoken communication skills. The term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. Inquiries about the positions may be sent to whitece@princeton.edu. Please reference position D-24-ENE-00018. We are interested in receiving applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in engineering and materials science. Applicants must apply online at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/35543 and submit a CV, cover letter, and contact information for three references. All candidates are subject to the University's background check policy.
