This position is to perform research on the synthesis and self-assembly of colloidal particles for photonic crystals. The Pine group recently developed a method to self-assemble colloidal diamond using tetrahedral clusters with DNA-coated patches [Nature 585, 524-529 (2020)]. In this position, a postdoctoral associate would develop new methods of synthesis and self-assembly that go beyond DNA-mediated interactions and use charge, depletion, and other interactions to self-assemble crystals with new symmetries principally for photonic applications. The work would also involve incorporating quantum dots and other emitters into the photonic crystals to explore the crystals non-Hermitian and topological photonic properties. The work involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, chemical engineers, and materials scientists.
In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500 - $65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
