Position Summary:
The School of Science and Business at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is seeking candidates for a full-time, nine month, professional-track, Instructor.
Teaching responsibilities may include algebra-based and calculus-based general physics lectures and labs. In addition, teaching assignments may include introductory coursework in physics/engineering/material science for general education. Collaborative courses with other disciplines will also be encouraged and could include courses such as energy and climate change, environmental engineering, scientific writing, agricultural mechanization, fabrication, etc.
Initial appointment at the rank of Instructor requires a Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, or field or equivalent thereof and demonstrated teaching potential.
Other responsibilities include participation in departmental meetings, student support services, advising, and participation in departmental curriculum discussions. Teaching may include online courses.

Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree, in Physics, Engineering, or related field
Traditional and online teaching experience in a college or university setting in one or more areas listed above
Industry experience in any or a combination of the areas listed above
Five years teaching or industry experience at a professional level
Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and mentoring student researchers, including students from diverse backgrounds.

Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work additional hours and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
