1. Researches, develops, documents, and implements a wide range of preservation and/or conservation activities. 2. Serves as preservation and/or conservation reference contact internally to the. 3. Library and University, externally to the community and the profession. 4. Works closely and collaborative with key Library staff to apply appropriate procedures and guidelines in conjunction with setting preservation priorities on the full range of library and archival materials. 5. Plans, manages, and oversees the planning and performing of preservation and/or conservation activities and projects, including specifications for vendor services that support preservation and conservation (e.g., templates for Request for Proposals, vendor contracts and/or vendor conservation treatment proposals). 6. Establishes vendor relations, negotiates contracts for the full range of preservation and/or conservation activities, conducts and/or coordinates quality control for all vendor-performed preservation and conservation actions. Collaborates with preservation management colleagues, advises Library subject specialists/selectors, librarians, and curators on the acquisition, loan, or exhibit of material and available preservation options for long-term retention of library and archival collections. 7. Trains and supervises staff. 8. Manages funds related to preservation/conservation activities. 9. Educates library staff, students, faculty, and researchers in the essentials of preservation. 10. Assists in developing and maintaining the emergency response plan and associated policies. 11. Participates in library system-wide planning, committees, and work groups, and engages in campus, regional and national professional organizations, and collaborative activities. 12. Monitors developments and best practices elsewhere to help ensure the excellence of Yale's collections and research support services. 13. May be required to assist with disaster recovery efforts. 14. May perform other duties as assigned.
