Position Summary:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science are transforming our world. Both fields are at the forefront of innovation in robotics, health care, system design, media forensics, infrastructure, materials science, sustainability, and countless other areas that are key to the United States' future economy and security. Properly deployed, these tools offer hope for solving complex problems like detecting fraud buried deep in financial systems, reducing human bias in the judicial system, improving emergency response to natural and man-made disasters, enhancing manufacturing, supply chains and transportation systems and improving human well-being through smart and connected communities.
Recognizing the transformative potential of AI, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks applicants for a multi-departmental faculty cluster that will engage collaboratively on a variety of shared problems that can benefit from the application of emerging data science tools.
Faculty appointments at all three levels (assistant, associate, and full professor) are anticipated, with one hire each in the Departments of:

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in a discipline related to Artificial Intelligence and Engineering, including Civil/Structural/Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and Materials Design.
Degree must be conferred by the appointment date, or evidence provided that all academic requirements for the degree have been met.
Preferred Qualifications:
Instructional experience at the university level is preferred, as well as a demonstrated record in external funding.
