We have a current need for a senior manufacturing engineer with a focus on ceramics for our Logan, Utah, manufacturing facility. In a high volume manufacturing environment, this position will assume manufacturing engineering responsibility for ceramic spray dry materials. You would specify materials, manufacturing processes, production techniques, and have cost control responsibility.
Specific responsibilities will include:
·Establishing specifications for raw material lots, and adjusting in production for variations in raw material lots.
·Monitoring and adjusting materials and processing controls when required for production pressing powder and roll compacting powder.
·Implementing quality assurance techniques and specifications for powder analyses.
·Investigating other materials and processing (R & D) to improve quality and cost of spray dried powder.
·Providing production support for the forming operations to improve dimensional characteristics and quality, to reduce scrap and to optimize all operations involved in the manufacture of ceramic products.
·Working with internal and external customers to optimize substrates for their applications.
·Providing manufacturing engineering support for new products, recommending the development of powder, processes, and techniques.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science/ Engineering, or the equivalent, master’s degree preferred; knowledgeable in the production processes of batching, spray drying, forming, and firing; familiar with statistical techniques such as SPC, Design of Experiments, and other Six Sigma techniques; and capable of high level problem solving and planning manufacturing engineering action for permanent resolution.
