Research and Development in the area of glass (frit) powders. Develop frit powders with targeted performance characteristics for use in a wide range of Microcircuit Materials (MCM) thick film and Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic (LTCC) compositions. Provide assistance to production for product scale-up and ongoing support to production teams for continuous improvement of yield and quality. The position will have at least one direct technician report and will work closely with multi-functional teams consisting of formulation scientists, process engineers and technicians. The candidate will be expected to publish patents as needed to support new developments.
Minimum Skills Required:
A PhD in Ceramic or Materials Science, a related field or 3-5 years of work experience in a related field. Knowledge of glass chemistry, high temperature thermal processing of glasses and analytical testing of glass performance properties, as well as research experience in glass powder development is preferred. Experience with developing materials, processes, or characterizing material performance for electronics applications is also preferred. A proven track record in developing and bringing products to commercialization and volume manufacturing is desired. Certification as a Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred.
The successful candidate should have strong technical and functional skills, and a demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects in a team environment. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
This position will require good interpersonal and communication skills, a high degree of initiative and self-motivation, and effective oral and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to successfully interact with other R&D scientists and manufacturing technical engineers, in the development of new product and process offerings.
An ability to recognize opportunities for improvement is necessary. Innovation and creativity in problem solving situations, and the ability to apply proven methodologies to quickly solve problems is desired. The ability to setup and run statistically designed experiments to improve performance of products and processes will be necessary.
