Job Description

The Institute of Materials Science and Technology within the School of Process Sciences at the Technische Universität Berlin is currently accepting applicants for

 W3 – Professor of Ceramics Materials / Advanced Ceramics Materials

This position will be responsible in full for the teaching and research in the subject of non-metallic inorganic materials and technologies.

Teaching: Position will be responsible for required and elective courses in “Materials Science”. Content of classes include physical and chemical principles, ceramic technologies as well as detailed aspects of sintering behavior, fracture mechanics, high-temperature properties and composites. An introductory session on general material aspects should be offered for the majority of the study courses within the school.

Research: Position will be responsible for projects concerning new, complex concepts and developing material composites for mechanical, tribological, functional, corrosive, thermal-mechanical and biomedical applications.  This department puts an emphasis on research in the process engineering field (e.g. catalytic materials).  This position is expected to cooperate in the Cluster of Excellence “Unifying Concepts in Catalysis”.
