Job Description

Essential Job Functions:
 
Development Engineer will be a member of Ceradyne’s Armor Development Group and will be responsible for development of armor systems that meet performance, cost and manufacturability requirements with emphasis on armor for vehicles.   He/she will also work with other R&D and Armor development personnel and production to develop new armor systems needed to expand markets. Position requires hands on planning and supervision of system experiments/tests as well as prototype and test panel fabrication.      
 

Job Requirements

Special Experience or Education Requirements:
 
·        Must have B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related discipline a with a minimum 5 years directly applicable experience. M.S. preferred.
·        Technical knowledge of armor systems and threats and experience with personnel ceramic/backing armor design desirable.
·        Excellent written, computer and verbal communication skills, which are needed to support customer meetings, development and presentation of briefings and preparation of technical reports and proposals.
·        Ability to manage multiple programs and work in a team environment.
·        Good communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
·        Secret level security clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
·        Experience with lightweight ceramic/composite armor technology and/or experience and knowledge of composite materials used in armor applications is a plus.
